What OtherCalculators Is

OtherCalculators is a free, no-sign-up collection of web calculators for asphalt and paving projects, personal finance, and a few everyday reference tasks. If you're estimating tonnage for a driveway, working out a 401(k) loan or contribution limit, or converting an AP exam score, the goal is the same: give you a fast, correct answer without an account, a paywall, or a page full of unrelated content between you and the tool.

Most visitors land here from a search for one specific calculation — a homeowner sizing a driveway, a contractor cross-checking a material order, an employee reading their 401(k) statement, or a student converting an AP score. We build for that single visit: a clear input form, a formula you can inspect, and an answer you can act on immediately.

Who Runs OtherCalculators

OtherCalculators is built and run by one person, Shakeel Alvi. Shakeel is a business graduate, with an MBA in Marketing, with an additional specialization in Management, and a full-stack developer with about 20 years of experience in software, web programming and development.

Shakeel also established and runs ConcreteCalculatorMax, a portfolio of specialized concrete calculators used free of charge by both trade specialists and the general public. Every formula on this site is written and checked by Shakeel against the sources listed on the Methodology page, and the “Reviewed by” line on each page refers to that review.

How Our Calculators Are Built and Verified

Every tool on this site runs a formula written directly into the page's code — never a black box. We document exactly how that works, where the numbers come from, and how often a page gets reviewed on our Methodology page. In short: where a governing or standards body publishes a rule — the IRS for 401(k) limits, the Asphalt Institute and ASTM for paving conventions, the College Board for AP score scales — we follow it, and we say so. Where no single authoritative source exists, we say that too, rather than attaching a citation that doesn't exist.

We do not employ a licensed engineer, CPA, or financial advisor to sign off on these tools, and we do not claim otherwise. Our calculators are estimation aids for planning and budgeting, not a substitute for professional advice on a specific project or financial decision — the Methodology page spells out exactly where that line sits for each category.
